WOODLOT for Windows 2.1 - Reference Manual

16.0 Settings Screen
The Settings screen is used to modify settings and to describe file/program locations. This is a utility screen for running WOODLOT. Click on the check boxes to activate a setting



To save changes and exit the Settings screen use the following:
  • Cancel: click cancel if you wish to cancel changes you made and move on to another screen
  • Save Default: Once you have made changes to your settings, you may save them for use in other WOODLOT applications by clicking Save Default.
  • OK: click on OK to proceed
16.1 VDYP Settings
This allows changing settings to the number of years that VDYP calculates a yield. No changes are normally required.


16.1.1 Age parameters
The age parameters are currently disabled however they can be adjusted in the WOODLOT.INI file.

16.1.2 Net MAI
If checked (default) MAI will be Net of Decay Waste & Breakage.




16.2 TIPSY Settings
This allows changing settings to the number of years that TIPSY calculates a yield. No changes are normally required.



16.2.1 Age Parameters
Currently the age parameters are disabled, however they can be adjusted in the WOODLOT.INI file. TIPSY smallest reporting period is 10 years.

16.2.2 OAF1 & OAF2
The OAFs should not be adjusted unless you have better information.

16.3 Colours
Click on the colour you would like to change. A colour selection window will pop-up as shown below. This window will allow you to pick one of the colours or create a custom colour.




16.4 Directories/Programs Locations
These describe the location of programs used in WOODLOT.



The paths can be manually edited or WOODLOT can search for the program for you by pressing the browse button. When searching for a program, the following window will appear.



16.4.1 Find Program Association - Automatic
This function is only available in the 32 bit version of WOODLOT. By selecting the extension form the drop down list box or entering a new extension, WOODLOT can find the associated program. The location of the program will be shown at the bottom of this box. Then press done.

16.4.2 Locate File - Automatic
Select the drive that the program is located on then press the search button. When the program has been found, press the Done button. Reasons for programs not being found:
  • Program not installed, verify that the program is on this computer.
  • Program is installed on a different drive or network drive.
16.4.3 Find Program - Manual
Choose the drive, directory and file.

16.5 Extras


16.5.1 PSYU Block
PSYU block is a feature that is supported by VDYP however it is not available in all areas. Please consult your inventory forester for more information. By default, PSYU Block is not activated.

16.5.2 TIPSY SI
This setting allows a Site Index to be specified for each individual TIPSY species.

16.5.3 TIPSY Height
This setting allows a Height to be specified for each individual TIPSY species.

16.5.4 VDYP Multi Spp
This feature causes VDYP to generate a yield curve for each species individually. This allows the user to net out volume that is not to be harvested. This feature will cause Woodlot files to be larger and will require all VDYP yield curves to be recompiled.

16.6 Interface


16.6.1 Short Filenames
This option tells WOODLOT to send short file names to programs like Word. This feature is needed if you are running an old version of Word or Excel on Win95, Win98 or NT.

16.6.2 Verify Changes
When checked, WOODLOT will ask the user to verify changes on the polygon data screen. By default this option is enabled, however frequent confirmation may become annoying to some users.

16.6.3 VDYP Display Inc
VDYP yield curves are calculated on a yearly basis. This variable allows the user to specify a more useful increment for viewing the data.
