10.5 Yield Table - Returned Data These variables are all data returned from either VDYP or TIPSY when yield tables are calculated. This data can not be edited directly. 10.5.1 Site Index This displays the actual site index calculated by VDYP or TIPSY if a site index age and height pair were entered in the Polygon Data screen. This could be different than the Site Index manually entered for VDYP and TIPSY in the Polygon Data screen. 10.5.2 Crown Closure Crown Closure applies to VDYP only; TIPSY does not use Crown Closure. The Crown Closure reported here would be the same as on the Polygon Data screen unless 0 was entered, or the site index was left blank and a site index age less than 50 was also entered. In the latter cases, a default Crown Closure will be calculated from VDYP, entered here, and used in generating the yield table. See "Appendix 4 - VDYP Limits and Defaults" for default Crown Closures. 10.5.3 MAI Max Maximum Mean Annual Increment in m3/ha/yr. - This is the maximum average amount or growth per year. The age when MAI Max occurs is the culmination age. 10.5.4 Culmination The age at which the MAI Max occurs. Theoretically, the best time to harvest based on maximum volume of wood. 10.6 Yield Table The age increment can be adjusted for more or less precision. Note: TIPSY is calculated on a 10-year basis so adjusting the increment below 10 will have no effect.
When using VDYP with separate yield curves for each species, six new columns will be added showing the Volume per Species.
10.7 Yield Graph The graph shows all the minimum harvest ages and the culmination age as dashed vertical lines. The colors of lines are consistent on the graph and in the text boxes. The other lines represent the dbh, Vol/ha and MAI as shown on the legend. The solid vertical yellow line represents the harvest age. Note: this line can be moved by clicking anywhere on the graph, which will also update the harvest age.
