WOODLOT for Windows 2.1 - Reference Manual

9.0 Polygon Data Screen
The Polygon Data screen is used to enter all the basic inventory data and management information specific to each polygon. This is the most important data screen in WOODLOT, since this is where most of your base data is entered. Your final calculations are only as good as your input data, so you should spend an appropriate amount of time collecting and ensuring this screen is filled correctly. All harvest calculations occur in the Calculations screen, refer to section "12.0 Calculation" page 12-72.

You will notice an application menu bar with File, Polygon, Yield and View. Also, notice the five blue headings for each function in the Polygon data screen:
  • Polygon Data - Common
  • Silviculture System
  • Yield Type
  • Natural - VDYP Specific Data
  • Managed - TIPSY Specific Data
The polygon screen displays all the input data for each individual polygon. Polygons can be created, imported or exported from this screen.

When all data has been entered, yield tables can be generated and viewed, and harvest ages can be set.

The "Managed - TIPSY specific Data" feature will only be displayed if Yield Type is "Managed - TIPSY". The "Natural - VDYP specific Data" will be displayed if "Natural - VDYP" is selected in Yield Type.

There are many error checks now in WOODLOT version 2.1. If you incorrectly enter data, or the numbers are out of range for the variable, you will be prompted. You will also be prompted to determine if you wish to keep all the changes, you have made.

Data can be entered manually on screen, or using import functions described below.

Help information for each data field is provided at the bottom of the Polygon Data screen, and is activated by selecting any data field.
