WOODLOT for Windows 2.1 - Reference Manual | ||
|
7.0 Main Screen The following section describes the functionality of the Main screen. Several of the actions can be accomplished using shortcut keystrokes or function keys, which are also denoted by section. The Main Screen is used to move between the other screens in WOODLOT. The active file name is displayed at the top of the windows in the blue box, as in all other windows applications. If no file has been loaded, opened or saved the title will display 'NOT SAVED!'
Clicking on a button will load the appropriate functional area in WOODLOT. When exiting from that section, the main screen will appear again. When you first open the program, some of the main functions are disabled because no data is currently loaded. These buttons are shown with a gray description, referred to as 'grayed out'. [Summary], [Calculations], and [Tables] will be enabled when polygon data has been entered or loaded into WOODLOT. [Report] will stay grayed out until a calculation has been run. Please see the section "7.4 View Menu" page 7-27 for a full description of each button. 7.2 Main Menu Bar The main menu bar has three separate menu items:
7.3 File Menu The file menu from the main screen is shown below.
7.3.1 New Clears memory of all polygons and calculation data. Use this function if a LOT file is open and you would like to import or create data into an empty LOT file. This function does not have to be used before opening another LOT file. 7.3.2 Open Opens an existing WOODLOT file from a program folder or drive. The Open function will open any previous version file from WOODLOT (e.g. versions 1.0 to 2.1). A warning message will appear if the program used to create the file in is a different version than the version opening it. Press OK if this appears. 7.3.3 Save Saves the current file with the current file name. If there is not a current file name specified, the "save as" dialog box will appear asking for the new file name. 7.3.4 Save As Saves the current file with a new filename and/or a new location. The file will be saved in the current version's format. 7.3.5 Save As Version 1.1+ Saves the current file in a format compatible with WOODLOT 1.10 to 1.15. The data that is not relevant to the older version of WOODLOT will be removed from this new file permanently. The new file should be saved with a new name. This feature was added to allow users to compare results from previous runs. 7.3.6 Exit Program Click on this to leave WOODLOT. Displays a warning message before allowing the user to exit WOODLOT. 7.3.7 Open a Recently Loaded File WOODLOT will store up to four file names of the files that have been previously opened. To open the file that was worked on last, simply, click on the filename next to '1'. Filename and location are automatically put in order on this list when a file is either opened or saved. 7.4 View Menu The view menu from the main screen is shown below. This is an alternate way to open screens in WOODLOT. Note that only "Report" is grayed out. This means that polygon information is in WOODLOT but a calculation has not been run yet. Note that the loaded filename is displayed in the title bar of the main window.

Please see section "8.0 Project Screen" page 8-29 for more information. 7.4.2 Polygon Data The Polygon Data screen is used to enter polygon specific information, VDYP data, TIPSY data and view generated yield tables.
