5.0 Conventions and Buttons Used in WOODLOT WOODLOT for Windows was programmed with Visual Basic 4.0 for the 16bit version and 5.0 for the 32bit version. It provides many of the user interface features of most Windows based programs. Some of the conventions used in WOODLOT include: 5.1 Buttons Buttons should be depressed by clicking with the left mouse button to activate the function. Pressing the [CTRL] key and the underlined character will also cause the button to be depressed. 5.2 Drop Down List Box The item can be selected from a list that will appear by pressing on the down arrow. An item can easily be found in the list by pressing the first letter of the item. Repeating this process will scroll through all items starting with that letter. ![]() 5.3 Check boxes A check box works like a light switch, it can either be on (checked) or off (unchecked). Clicking on the box or the text next to the box will toggle the check on and off. 5.4 Radio Buttons A radio button box is used to select one of two or more options. Notice a circle is used instead of a square like a check box. Only one option can be selected at one time. 5.5 White Text Boxes Each white text box will allow for a limited number of characters to be entered. Current information in the text box may need to be deleted before adding a new number. 5.6 Grey Text Boxes Grey text boxes hold information that cannot be edited (read only). Some of these are data returned by VDYP or TIPSY. Others are for features disabled in the settings screen or not yet available in WOODLOT. 5.7 File Conventions Files created and used in WOODLOT for data and calculations include the following:
