2.11 Associating .LOT files with WOODLOT (optional) Advanced users of WOODLOT may wish to open WOODLOT and a .lot file directly by clicking on a .lot file in your directory. If this is the case, use the following procedure. This is not a mandatory setup in WOODLOT. An association/file type specifies which program will automatically be launched when a program files is double clicked upon. To launch WOODLOT automatically when a LOT file is doubled click on, an association must be set up. To create an association with a file you must first find a file with the extension that you wish to associate. By default, these files will be stored in your WOODLOT directory. In Explorer, change to this directory. Using the right button, click on a .lot file as shown below. A menu will appear. Choose 'Open With...'
A dialog box will open asking the program to associate with this file type. It will ask you to press on 'OTHER' if the file type is not there. Press 'OTHER' then select WOODLOT.exe this will be located in 'c:\program files\WOODLOT' unless you have changed the path during WOODLOT installation.
You will then be able to type a description of the file type that you have created. When you have finished press 'OK'
To test your new file association, try double clicking on a lot file. Notice that all your lot files now have a WOODLOT icon next to them. | ||
