2.10 Closing the DOS Screen Window Automatically

In WOODLOT, VDYP and TIPSY programs are run automatically when needed, but their DOS screens stay open on the first use. This is because in Windows 95/98/NT 4.0 certain DOS screens will remain open by default after a DOS based program has finished.

To keep your screen uncluttered you can follow this next procedure to automatically close DOS screen Command Prompt Windows when they are finished. This procedure is required on the first use of WOODLOT only, and will remain in effect on subsequent uses.

  1. Right click on the upper left corner of the window (directly left of the caption 'Finished...')
  2. Select Properties from the menu.
  1. The properties window will appear. Now click on 'Close on exit' so it is checked as shown below.
  1. You will need to repeat this procedure for TIPSY and VDYP.
