2.0 INSTALLATION OF WOODLOT 2.1 Computer System Requirements Any computer capable of running Windows 95 or NT should run WOODLOT. You will require: Hard Drive 8mb free storage space Floppy Drive: 3½" Floppy Drive (for diskette installation) Printer: Bubble jet or laser printer (recommended) There are two versions of WOODLOT, a Windows 3.1x (16-bit) version and a Windows 95/NT (32-bit) version. Currently all the functions of WOODLOT are incorporated into both the 16 bit and 32 bit model. The 32-bit version will run about five times faster than the 16-bit version on the same computer. It also takes advantage of long file names and the new dialog interface. The following describes additional notes about your operating system. 2.1.1 Windows 3.1x Only the 16-bit version of WOODLOT will run on Windows 3.1x. We highly recommend that you upgrade to Windows 95, 98 or NT. You may install the 16-bit version on Windows 95, but you cannot install the 32-bit version on Windows 3.1x. DOS version 5 or later is also required to run WOODLOT. 2.1.2 Windows 95 / 98 There are currently no additional requirements for Windows 95 or 98. The 32-bit version has been designed for Windows 95, though you may install the 16-bit version on Windows 95. You cannot install the 32-bit version on Windows 3.1x. 2.1.3 Windows NT Microsoft Windows NT version 3.51 (with Service Pack 5) Microsoft Windows NT version 4.0 (with Service Pack 3) If you require a Service Pack, they are available from Microsoft via the WEB ( http://support.microsoft.com/support/downloads/)
