WOODLOT for Windows 3.0
3.0 Testing Your Installation

This section has been added to the manual as a guide for your system administrator to be able to test the functions of WOODLOT without learning the software.

  1. Load WOODLOT for Windows. The following main screen appears after the About screen:
  1. From the main screen menu bar, choose File and Open.
  2. Select the sample.lot file and press [Open]
  3. From the main screen choose [Polygon Data]
  1. From the polygon screen menu bar, choose Yield and Calculate Yields. The following Yield calculation screen appears:
  1. Check on the box labeled Recalculate All
  2. Then press [calculate Yield] button
  3. WOODLOT will now shell out and run an external program called VDYP.
  1. When VDYP has completed, WOODLOT will import the generated data file. WOODLOT will shell out again and run another external program called TIPSY but without dispalying it. When TIPSY has completed, WOODLOT will import the generated data file.
  1. Choose File then Ok from the polygon data screen
  2. The main screen will be displayed, press calculations button and the following screen will be displayed
  1. Uncheck the "Auto - Harvest Rate" check box and then press the calculate button.
  2. Choose File then Ok from the calculation screen
  3. The main screen will be displayed, press report button and the following screen will be displayed
  1. Press the WORD Button. Woodlot will request a file name, you can use the default one. The program should then automatically shell to Word for Windows or Word Pad and display the formated report.
  2. Close Word
  3. Press the [OK] button on the report screen.
  4. You can then exit woodlot from the file menu.
